Writing Reviews

For years, I have been writing product reviews for other people. It is something that I always intended to do myself on my own websites, but time constraints and the need to earn guaranteed money put a halt to my ambitions.

A couple of months ago, I finally took the plunge and launched two websites, and I wrote about them on Blogger. It has taken a lot of time and commitment to set them up. While I have 12 years of experience as a writer and a reasonable understanding of SEO, I have zero experience in website development. It has been a huge learning curve.

I had to get a decent amount of content onto both my websites before I could add Adsense to start earning a few pennies from the sites. It took even longer before I felt able to start writing reviews and making money as an affiliate.

Reviews are very time-consuming. Writing them is a long and arduous process, and it involves a great deal of research. Learning about writing code to make sure the links, tables, and content were perfect was also a learning experience for me.

Finally, I have written my first review that is for my own website and not for a paying client. I am really proud of how it has turned out but have yet to see if I will have any success in attracting traffic or in making any money from the review. Only time will tell.

Creating a New Company and Launching Two New Sites

There have been some big changes in my professional life over the last two years. I began freelance writing for other people around ten years ago. Back in January 2016, I decided to launch my own blog- The Fruity Tart. This was originally on a basic WordPress plan. It is now a well-established site with almost 400 followers and more than 140 posts. Therefore, I decided to take it to the next level and it recently went live on a new platform.

I have also launched a new site called Super Souper Ed. This is all about soup making and has some amazing soup recipes, along with tips, informative articles, and product reviews. If you are a fan of soup-making or you want to learn some new skills in the kitchen, it is worth checking out.

Now that there are two websites plus Elizabeth Flynn Freelance Writing Services, I have founded an umbrella company called Purple Mermaid Media. Within this company, there are plans for several more websites that are currently in the early stages of development. These will not follow the same food-related theme as the previous two sites. Instead, they will focus on topics such as travel, pets, and recycling. Watch this space!
